Yesterday I wrote a little mini report, and I just have to say that it will probably get me a failing grade in Geology. (really, it was for geology! they said, 'Write about Cephalopods!' I said, "sounds cool!") SO, without any further ado, (about nothing!) I will let you get on with reading my report!

Cephalopods

Cephalopod is a class of creatures which contains two existing subclasses: Coleoidea, and Nautiloidea. The subclass Coleoidea includes such creatures as Octopuses, Squid, and Cuttlefish. The Nautiloidea subclass does not contain any creature as familiar to the laymen as the Coleoidea subclass, but it does contain a really neat looking creature called a ‘Nautilus’.

Nautiluses live in a shell, which is unlike any other Cephalopod. In At World’s End they were attributed to be a non-aggressive group of animals, preferring to run away rather than engage in a fight, which might be true, but Jules Verne depicts them in rather a different light. In his book he tells of how Captain Nemo and Company got into a rather vicious fight with a large group of cuttlefish. The fight terminated in the loss of one of Nemo’s crew.

The Legendary Kraken, if it ever really existed, would most likely be in the subclass of Coleoidea, as it is generally reported as being quite similar to a squid, only much bigger. Also, in German, Kraken means octopus, another member of the subclass Coleoidea.

Most Cephalopods move by jet propulsion, but some octopuses have the ability to walk on the ocean floor using their legs. All Cephalopods live in salt water, and a Cephalopod can be found in any ocean at any depth.

Yay!

I admit, right now I do not feel very 'Yay'-ish, but that's all right. I will say it anyway. Yay!

I achieved my goal! I read Five books over what can be seen as Christmas Break. Two Fluff books, and Three All-Out Classics. Only One was a hard read, however, and that was the first.

I Must admit that I started Hunchback just before School Started -- I think. it was around that time. However, I did not get far, just to about page one hundred. I.E -- the description of an over head view of Paris at the Time of the Story, as contrasted with the Time of Hugo. Blah. Well, that barrier held me back for quite a while, I can say, but over Christmas (or rather, right before Christmas Break) I really needed to read something. So I picked it up again.

It was amazing. It had some... stuff in it that I did not like one bit, but it was still really good. I finished it right about the time that the first brother returned from school.

I promptly started reading Ben Hur, but I've never been good at just starting books like that -- take Hunchback for example. I just couldn't get really into it at first. So I floundered, and soon gave that up. I will get to it, just a little later.

By this time, Christmas had rolled around, and along with it came Christmas Presents, Chief among these were the Books! I received two Very Good Young Adult/Children's books -- Tanglewreck by... some lady, which I had read before, but still read and enjoyed. the other book was one I had been anticipating for some time -- Book of a Thousand Days, by Shannon Hale. I really like all of her other children's books, and I really enjoyed this one as well. Very easy reads, both of them, but quite enjoyable.

I also received two other books, one from each of the brothers. The Elder Brother gave me A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. It was really good, quite funny, and a quick read that took a while. I started it around New Year's, and I finished it Sunday. So... about two weeks.

The other book was from the Younger Brother, obviously, and it was The Princess Bride. Now, believe it or not, I had not read this book previously. I do not know why, but it just hadn't grabbed my interest. It is just that kind of a book, I guess. I have seen the movie millions of times, and My father read the book to all of us several years back, but that was a while ago. I guess that is why I saved it for last -- because I knew what was going to happen. Granted, I had read Tanglewreck before, but when I read it again, I really had no idea what was going to happen from moment to moment. It was just another one of those fluff books that I had read a while back.

So, Yesterday I started reading The Princess Bride. I started just before Dinner, and, with several interruptions, I kept going until I went to bed at Eleven -- much later than normal. This evening I finished the job off -- I read every single page in the whole book. I read all of the two introductions (this is the '25th Anniversary' Edition), and I read the little thing at the end -- The First Chapter of the Long Lost Sequel, Buttercup's Baby. It really wasn't anything great.

So, I read the majority of Five Books in what I will Class as Christmas Break, because I want to say it. I really need something to be happy about right now. You ought to be able to tell that just by looking at what Time I am going to post this at... If I were feeling normal, then I would be in bed, sleeping, right now. but I am not. Because I wouldn't be able to sleep.

I don't want to go into it, even though, maybe, I should. it's just kind of... hard. This is when I think about things that give me a reason to be sad, like Dustfinger, or Sydney. This is why I like tragedies -- because they make feeling sad feel sort of good, in a rather mixed up way.

Well, it won't do any good, but I don't feel like doing anything else, so I'm going to head to bed now.

This is Comtess Rosie, over and out.

Google

or Yahoo?

I believe that most of you are aware that I have been known to Elgoog Oohay on random occasions. Google-ing Yahoo is just as fun, I assure you.

Anyway, what I was going to say is that it is really fun to Google things relating back to these blogs, because Blogspot is related to Google in some weird way, and so you get wonderful things. I googled Space Is Very Cold and this blog came up at the bottom. I googled Donwell Abbey, and Dotti's Blog came up around Fifth. The strange thing is that I googled Llama Person and potato Montgomery's Blog did not show up on the first page. I couldn't find it in the whole list, although I did not look very hard. I googled Potato Montgomery and the first thing was my blog. This all has to do with the Google/Blogspot thing.

I yahoo'd Space is very Cold, and my blog came up first. then I Yahoo'd Donwell Abbey, and Dotti's blog was not there. The same thing happened for Llama Person, but Potato Montgomery yielded different results. I came with Potato's Nano account -- the one that was taken over by someone from Finland. creepy.

I just thought these things were interesting. hmmmm.....

Feet

Or rather, a foot. to be more specific, tis MY foot. And, you know what? it really tingles... Do you think my sitting on it could have anything to do with this mysterious occurrence?

So, I was thinking... it would be nice if I could just freeze time right now, and stay almost sixteen for a while. I don't feel prepared for all things that are going to happen after my birthday, and just the fact that next year I'll be a senior is a bit unsettling. The Senior bit is fine, it's just the continuation of that thought... once I'm a senior, it's not going to be that long before I'm in college, and once I'm in college... I don't want to go there.

So, I'm, looking for a small-ish school that close-ish to home, with predominantly Christian Students and Faculty, and all that. And it's tough.

Well, my memorizing Shakespeare is coming along swimmingly -- where'd that saying originate, anyway? Swimmingly. That doesn't really mean anything necessarily good in my mind. Well, let's see what Wikipedia has to say about it...

Okay... Wikipedia was most unhelpful... let's try Google...

Okay... bartelby.com lists this as the definition of swimmingly:

Swimmingly

Adverb: With Great Ease and Success: Things are Going Swimmingly

And however interesting that may be, it's not what I was looking for. I want to know WHY it means that.

Hey! I found something a lot more interesting! I found a place that can look it up in classical literature for you! the top three references were from Little Women, Jane Eyre, and something by James Fenimore Cooper.

Well... I can't find anything else interesting there... Webster wouldn't have anything diffierent... mostly webster.com doesn't help me... maybe dictionary.com could help...

Nope. nothing good there. Ah well. I guess I shall never know.

Befuddling

I just sneezed about six or seven times in quick succession. I was writing a comment about Moustaches on Potato Montgomery's blog, and listening to Javert's Suicide -- Both things that I have done before without any serious or strange side effects. I do not know what is happening. maybe I am being affected by some alien technology.

I have been doing some research on Hermit Crabs, with the aim of preparing to get one in the future. I know a lot more about Hermit Crabs now. I know the proper temperature and humidity they should be kept at, I know how much sand they need in the bottom of their cage. I know that they need a rather sizable cage, in order to accommodate two water bowls (salt water and fresh water) a food bowl, a toy of some sort, and something they can hide under. I know that Hermit Crabs prefer a friend, and that they cannot reproduce in captivity, and so I need not be worried about starting with two, and ending up with millions. I also know that to give a hermit crab all the stuff they need, it would cost a tidy sum of money. So, I'm thinking about it. I just don't want to kill one... I also don't want to get bit.

Phillippe

I decided to switch things up this time, and to get all you adoring blog-fans guessing here. am I really writing this post, or is it Phillippe? Why would Phillippe post on my blog? Is Phillippe a boy or a girl? Who is Phillippe, anyway? These are all questions that the observant Blog-Reader ought to be asking themselves just now. To keep this Lively, I am going to keep you guessing. which, in all reality, is downright cruel of me, I know, but it's rather fun.

First off, I'm getting some bad vibes from the comment section in the future if a keep up on this track (pay no attention to my random sayings -- they mean nothing. Really!) SOO, in order to keep up my Good Reputation, I am going to tell you something. About Phillippe. Or rather, I WAS going to tell you about Phillippe, but just now I've forgotten whatever it was that I was going to say. So, bear with me.

Secondly, I was going to tell you all a little bit about my. . . ethnicity, as it were. You see, it turns out that My Whole Family (which does most definitely include myself) are Banana Nut Muffins. Now, you may be wondering what exactly that means. Well, you are probably going to have to keep wondering for a good long while, because I really don't know very well myself.

The more important question you Adoring Blog People should be asking is this:

Are My Family Members (Along with Myself, of course!) Banana Nut Muffins??
Well, all that I can say is that is a very good question. Maybe you should take a look at your family these next couple days. Observe their behaviour -- they might very well be Banana Nut Muffins. The Important thing to do, if this is in fact the case, is this: DO NOT EAT THEM!! I you do eat them, you will be in VERY, and I repeat, VERY big trouble. So just don't.

Me again!

Really, who else would it be?

The other night I had a strange and discombobulating dream about -- well there's the hitch. I don't really know what it was about. But this one evil lady who made a grand and dramatic appearance in it has stuck in my mind. So, I'm filling in what little I have with information that makes sense. I'm trying not to rush it, so that it doesn't become old or dumb or anything bad like that, but I don't want to let it wait too long, otherwise it might just die. Although, I'm now worried that, having told all you about this it will die anyway. Ah well, it just seems that I am in a lose-lose situation.

On other news, I have started Ben Hur, and I am in -- let's see... what was it? -- Chapter Four or Five. it is quite interesting, but I think I just need some time before I get into another big story -- Hunchback left me... feeling empty. and wanting to write something better. That seems to be the effect that great works of art have on me -- I want to outdo them, or even just do something half as good. Because I want to. because I feel like I can. But every time I try, I burn out way too quickly. It's really quite depressing.

On a happier note, the brothers will soon both be back for Christmas -- no one has died (rather a common occurrence in my life, as I am finding *wink at Han*) and practice for the Shakespeare competition is starting up. We've mostly all picked our scenes -- I'm doing a rather splendid scene from the end of Midsummer Night's Dream that consists of the people putting on the play. It's really funny -- I just hope we can pull it off -- and that we have lots of fun doing so.

With that Cheerful Note, I will sign off!! Comtess Rosie Out!

C'est Moi!

All right, I know that (for some of you) that title creates certain images, or rather, lyrics, to pop right into the head, but that is not what I was really intending when I typed it, and it just fits too well for me to change it. Besides, I cannot come up with anything else to put in there, so why not just leave it? -- Because it makes you think of a bad Kingdom Stealing Wretch who Couldn't even Sing and so Should not Have been Cast in a Rather Important Role in a Musical -- Well, I'll just have to tell you -- that is not a good enough reason to make me change it. besides, you haven't given me anything better, so it stays.

Now, the whole point of this blog post is not to rave on about the title and Lancelot and Camelot etc. etc. etc. (we aren't going to go there -- do not worry. I have a plan -- just hang tight.) It may seem like this whole thing has no point, but just remember that appearances may be deceiving. So, what I was intending to write about before I put in the title which led us down a rather dull bunny trail -- or is it rabbit trail? I'll stop.

What I was GOING to say was that I finished Hunchback of Notre Dame. It is a very good book, even though it is definitely rated... well, probably older than me. but we're not going to go into that. I just kind of read on when that happened. It is a really good book. Despite the fact that everyone who died did so in a rather horrific manner. I'm not going to go into that either. We had enough of disturbing things in English Class this year, I don't want to inflict anything else on anybody. And the people swore a lot. but they swore in French, so I am not exactly plagued by that as much as... I might have been. I kind of said 'oh! another swear word in French!' and then went on.

Anyway... the book was really good. it was quite tragic however. I did not know before hand whether it had a happy ending or a sad ending, so I was kind of disappointed. I mean, I like tragic stories, but really, something with a happy ending just leaves you feeling happier! Which really goes without saying. But this was better than some books, because Victor Hugo had set it up in a position that the characters you cared about would be happier dead than alive, so it was just better this way. The sad part about that was that the one character actually did kill himself... which is just wrong. I was happy that it wasn't a suicide or anything. it was different... which sounds funny, I know, but i will not go into details. I don't like spoiling things for people.

So, I finished it. it's really funny that every time I finish a book that has taken rather a lot of time to get through I feel empty. every time, I just don't know what to do with myself. sometimes I don't know whether to laugh or to cry... I wasn't tempted to laugh this time. but it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Now I want to write something better -- something were the guys have good morals, good habits, good thoughts. where they save the girls, who don't always necessarily fall for the guy, just because he's there and he's handsome. where they all believe in God, and live their lives accordingly. I just can't seem to channel all my ideas into one plot... it would really random. which isn't necessarily bad, but it isn't what I want to achieve when I feel like this...

Ah well. I am just going to have to deal with it and go on. The Next Great Classic on my list -- Ben Hur! I have no idea what's going to happen in it, except that there's a chariot race *winks @ Han* if you don't understand, Han, just post a comment, and I'll explain. if you do, Post a comment to show you get it. *wink*

have a great Night, and then, after it's over, I hope you all have a Great Friday!

Blah

My electronics have all decided that they want to just be mean to me these past couple days. My mp3 player doesn't play if I am moving, I have to sit completely still, or it will turn itself off. My phone has decided that randomly shutting itself of is really fun, and so I missed a call today!! I am having difficulties logging in to anything that I have not saved my password in (ie -- EVERYTHING!). I couldn't remember my password or here, so I had it SEND me an EMAIL to my GMAIL address!!!. Which is really dumb, because the password for Gmail is the SAME as the password for here. SO, I couldn't get IN!! I had to change my password to Gmail just to get in, so as to get my password for here, which would have then changed to what I changed my Gmail to!! It's just wrong...
Also, I had to do geography today, and that dumb book is full of sentence fragments and non-sequiturs, and it's driving me up the wall!!!

On a side note, I would greatly enjoy writing an original story about some kind of animal, such as foxes, or some such creature. The problem with that is that I really don't like such stories when I see them in book stores. They get really old, when you have the same things happening to diferent creatures... So, I'll just sit on this idea for now. That means that it will not get anywhere... Way in time for NaNo (haha. Listen to me... I really have been around public schoolers too much.)

Let's see... I'm happy as far as Baseball's been going. I want the Indians to beat the Red Sox (just like they did tonight! YAY!!!) and the Rockies to beat the D-Backs, but I DO NOT want them to sweep them. so, I want them to lose tonight, I believe. so... YAY!!! A D-Back guy hit a double!! I do believe it is someone-or-other Snyder.

My life is pretty busy... I work pretty much every day Tuesday through Friday, and Mondays are Packed -- what with Music Lessons, English Class, and Softball Practice. Plus, Saturdays have Softball (only though the end of the month, though. goodness... what will I do with all that extra time?)

Because of this, I really haven't been online much... even with my new laptop. I've been watching Baseball until I absolutely Need to go to bed, so I really haven't had much time to do anything in the evening unless I want to multi-task. which I am doing now!

I have an essay I need to write, but that can wait until tomorrow. Oh dear... I have so much to do tomorrow. I should probably go to bed now. All the school, the Essay, I work 3-7, and then in the evening I will be going to PESHA (for all you distant blog-readers, PESHA is our homeschool organization. we meet once every month, and the Teens get together in their very own Suite and have all kinds of amazing fun.) Because of this, I will stop writing to you, but, to show you care, you can post comments! Posting Comments will Encourage me to Update More Often, because It Shows that there is Someone reading this old thing.

Have fun doing whatever it is you all do. GO D-BACKS!!!! Aren't they just wonderful??

All right, then. I will now post oh... five or ten of my favorite Pirates of the Caribbean songs. They are in no particular order, unless 'the order that I think of them' counts... which it should. Anyway...

1. Up is Down (At World's End)

2. He's A Pirate (Curse of the Black Pearl)

3. Tortuga (Dead Man's Chest)

4. Parlay (At World's End)

5. Davy Jones (Dead Man's Chest)

6. Sword's Crossed (Curse of the Black Pearl)

7. At Wit's End (At World's End)

8. The Kracken (Dead Man's Chest)

9. I Don't Think Now's the Best Time (At World's End)

10. Wheel Of Fortune (Dead Man's Chest)

As you can see, I have more avorite from the second two, than from the first one, but that's only because I don't know that names that go with the song on the first one, so i don't know which one's I like and which ones I don't like.

Random Quotes From Awesome Books

After delivering a message and identifying a 'taxi cab', Eponine is declared a 'clever girl' by her father. "A clever girl, that may be. But I tell you I'll never put on these shoes again; I won't do it, for health first, and then for decency's sake. I don't know anything more provoking than soles that squeak that go ghee, ghee, ghee, all along the street. I'd rather go barefoot." -- Eponine, Les Miserables by Victor Hugo

"Po-ta-toes," said Sam. "The Gaffer's delight, and rare good ballast for an empty belly. but you won't find any, so you needn't look. But be good and fetch me the herbs, and I'll think better of you. What's more, if you turn over a new leaf, and keep it turned, I'll cook you some taters one of these days. I will: Fried fish and chips served by S. Gamgee. You couldn't say no to that." -- The Two Towers by JRRTolkien

"'I can see why your father has never told you about Capricorn,' said Dustfinger, looking at Mo. 'If I had chilrden I'd rather tell them about nice people, too.'
"I know the world's not just full of nice people!' Meggie couldn't keep her voice from shaking with anger and more than a touch of fear.
'Oh yes? How do you know that?' There it was again, that mysterious smile, sad and supercilious at the same time. "Have you ever had anything to do with a real villain?'
'I've read about them.'
Dustfinger laughed aloud. 'Yes, of course that almost comes to the same thing!' he said. his mockery hurt like stinging nettles. He bent down to Meggie and looked her in the face. 'All the same, I hope reading about them is as close as you ever get,' he said quietly." -- Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

'(referring to Dustfinger) You couldn't tell from his scarred face whether he was afraid or not, but the scars looked darker than usual.
"What's that for?" he said, when Basta came into the cell and held out his knife. "You might as well put it away. If you kill me you;ll spoil Capricorn's fun. He won't forgive you for that in a hurry."
Yes, he was afraid. Meggie could hear it in his voice. The words were spilling out of his mouth a little too fast.
"WHo said anything about killing?" growled Basta as he closed the cell door behind him.
Dustfinger retreated as far as the stone coffin. "Ah, you were thinking of adding a few more decorations to my face?" he was almost whispering. There was something else in his voice now -- hatred, scorn, rage. "Don't expect it to be so easy this time," he said softly. "I've learned a few useful tricks since then."' -- Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

"Killing isn't easy. You have to practice to do it well."
"Nonsense!" Dustfinger grabbed him by the jacket and held the knife under his chin, the way Basta had pulled his knife on Mo that time in the church. "Any fool can kill. It's easy -- as easy as throwing a book on the fire, breaking down a door, or frightening a child." ...
The knife was barely a finger's breadth from Basta's white shirt, but suddenly Dustfinger plunged his hand in Basta's pants pocket, took out the cell keys, and stepped back.
"No, you're right, I don't know much about killing," he said as he made his way backward out of the cell, "and I'm not about to learn just for you." -- Inkheart

"Fortunately, Monsieur d'Artagnan is in our hands. We shall at once confront you with him."
"By my faith, I ask for nothing better," cried Bonacieux. "I shall not be sorry to see the face of somebody I know."
"Show Monsieur d'Artagnan in," the COmmissioner ordered. The guards admitted Athos.
"Monsieur d'Artagnan," said the Commissioner, "will you please stat what happened between you and Monsieur here?"
"But Monsieur!" Bonacieux objected, "this is not Monsieur d'Artagnan!"
"What? This is not Monsieur d'Artagnan?"
"No, not by any manne rof means."
"Then what is Monsieur's name?"
"I cannot tell you, Monsieur le Commisaire. I do not know the gentleman."
"You do not know him?"
"No, Monsieur."
"You have never seen him?"
"Yes, I have seen him, but I do not know his name."
"Your name, Monsieur," snapped the Commissioner.
"Athos," the musketeer replied.
"That is not a man's name," the wretched interrogator protested, losing his head. "Athos is the name of a mountain!"
"Athos is nevertheless my name."
"But you said your name was D'Artagnan?"
"I said that?"
"Certainly you did!"
"No, Monsieur le Commissaire. Somebody asked me was I Monsieur d'Artagnan; I said: 'Do you really think so?' The guards declared they were positive I was D'Artagnan. Who was I to contradict them? After all, I might have been wrong about my own identity."
"Monsieur, you are insulting the majesty of the law."
"In no wise, Monsieur."
"You are Monsieur d'Artagnan."
"There, you see, once again I hear I am Monsieur d'Artagnan!" -- The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas

A List.

I just realized that I keep copying off of what My friends do on their blogs... ah well, I don't think anybody really minds, and I have fun doing it, so I think I'll just continue on my happy, lazy, carefree path.

So, here I will attempt to list Fifty of my favorite characters -- movie, book, or play -- just like Potato Montgomery did on his/her/its blog llamaperson.blogspot.com

So, here goes!

1. I know you all hang on my every post, so I'll try not to dissapoint you all with this one. right now, the computer is running verrrrrry slowwwlllyyy, and for some reason, that's making my fingers go even faster than normal, so if there are a lot of typos in this post, please don't mind too much. they were accidental, and I don't really want to fix them. Besides, it gives this post more authenticity if I don't bother!!

SO, my life is pretty boring to outsiders, I bet. So I'm not going to post about my life. At least, I don't intend to right now. I may get around to my life in time.

Let's see....I can't think of anything to write about that isn't about my life!!!! oh horrors....

well, NanoWrimo is coming!! what is it? two whole months more? oh yeah! time to start planning!!!! well, I already have. I was thinking about writing about this acting troupe, from old-time england. Say victorian, and they have this actor dude who isn't very good, but he's really nice and they all like him. and there's the guy who writes their plays, he's reeally good at writing plays, but he's not a very nice guy. and, anyway, it turns out that the guy who pretends to write the plays doesn't really, it's really the bad actor dude, and he's pretending he doesn't write them because the other dude has some blackmail, and it;s really deep, and I haven't really thought it out, so I don't know much mo0re. But I think it sounds pretty cool, and I might be able to pull it off! especially, if I have a story writing contest in the middle, where they all write stories of about 200 words each, that should really boost my word count, right?!!

Laptop update! Yes! I'm going to get a laptop!! I'm saving up my money from work,, and I should have about 800 dollars right now, which is getting close!!! plus, my next paycheck should be a pretty big one, because I have a lot of hours from this past week, and this coming week! I'm getting excited, because once I get my laptop, I hope to be able to edit my last year's nano, which i was rereading recently. It was pretty good for about the ten pages, and then it went south.... but, with editing, I think it could still be good! so, that's what I have planned for my laptop to be... *sappy sigh*

Right now, I am currently reading Benjamin Franklin's Autobiography (for school) and the Fellowship of the Ring (also, technically for school, but I chose it, so it doesn't really feel like it's for school.) But, English class is starting next week -- er, next week's next week, and I'll be reading the Comedy of Errors for that. We have six books to read this year, the Comedy of Errors, by William Shakespeare, Gulliver's Travels, by Tom Swift, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, Master of Ballantrae, by Robert Louis Stevenson, and Jacob Have I loved, by Katherine Patterson. I believe these are to be the books. I am not sure, but it's something like that.

So, farewell, my supportive fan club, I hope you enjoyed this post!! Take care of yourselves!!!

-- The Comtess de le Fere

I post again!

This post is a review of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 - At World's End. If you have not seen it thus far, and plan to see it soon, I suggest that you not read this post, for it will contain many spoilers.

Let's see, where to start? The first scene seems a little out of place. Millions of people are being hanged just for possibly being within a twenty mile radius of someone who could have been a pirate. A kid, about to be hanged starts to sing, and the rest of the crowd, awaiting their deaths, keep the song going, even after he's dead.

The Second Scene is more what we came expecting to see, Elizabeth (singing the same song as the crowd of people) rows down a river in the middle of Singapore. She pulls the boat up at a dock, and is met up by Barbossa, and a couple of scary foreign pirates, who take them to see the Lead Foreign Pirate, Sao Feng. A long talk commences, in which we learn that Will has been sent to steal some charts, and that the brethren court is about to convene. Apparently, the brethren court is a meeting of all nine Pirate Lords, and Sao Feng is one of them. Jack is another. All nine pirate lords MUST attend the brethren court, and so Barbossa and Co. want to borrow a ship from Sao Feng to go and get Jack from Davy Jones' Locker.

hmm... this is more of a summary than a review. Let's see if I can change that...

At World's End was a very good movie. the acting was wonderful, the music was awesome, but a couple of the plot twists could have been much better. For instance, throughout the movie, the writers were setting up that somebody was going to take Davy Jones' place. the big candidates were Will and Jack. I don't think either should have done it, though, because throughout the whole movie various characters were discouraging Jack from stabbing the heart and taking over as Captain of the Flying Dutchman. This puts him out of the running, since that would just be a waste of good movie time and plot development if he didn't take their advice. Will, on the other hand, could do it, but that meant that he would only be able to spend one day every ten years with Elizabeth, who he does end up marrying in this movie. While he will live forever, Elizabeth won't. Obviously that won't work out. SO, during the movie, I looked around for a substitute, figuring that neither Jack nor Will would stab the heart, and wanting to be able to anticipate the person who would. just as I had started, there was a scene between Norrington and Elizabeth where he let her out of the brig and redeemed himself. I realized that he would be a really good captain of the Flying Dutchman. He couldn't, though, for he died before the scene was over. In the end Will got the Dutchman, thanks to Davy Jones. Jack was all set to stab the heart, but then Davy Jones stabbed Will through the chest. Will had to stab the heart then...

So it ends, with Will sailing away to do his Davy Jones' things, and Elizabeth is left all alone on some island. Wouldn't it have been much better if Norrington had gotten it instead?

Except for that one thing, the movie really was good. I enjoyed it immensely.

Comtess' Log

Well, my plan has not been initiated yet, but I am thinking on it. I have entered a whole new world since my last post. I have a job!

Yeah. It's really cool! I work at Bruster's - a really great Ice Cream place. I have really become much more outgoing since I started work only a month ago.

Softball has also begun to think about starting up. It was looking really good, until the cold snap we had n Wednesday. It's bad for Softball, and Business.

I've read about a million books - The Great Good Thing, Physik, Most of The Kiesha'ra, Mozart's Sister, Most of Dragonspell, The Goose Girl, and quite a few more that I can not remember right now.

I got a new Phantom Soundtrack. it's pretty good.

Listen to me! I can't write about my life without getting jerky sentences and all kinds of bad writing!!! It' simply awful. I'm guessing that's why I don't upkeep my blogs very well. Okay- the one won't let me log in, but if that weren't the case I still wouldn't update.

Let's see... I'm writing a research paper. It's about half done, and it's on the extremely popular subject of Ice Cream! It's really fun to write, so I'm just flying right through it.

Okay, you remember what I said a couple paragraphs up? About not being able to keep up a blog very well because I can't write about myself? Well, I can generally write letters fairly well (if I do say so myself) and my fictional writings are not horribly awful - at least not when we're getting technical, the plots stink and I'm not great at characterization, but the actual writing bit's not bad.

So, I was thinking - maybe I could do some kind of hybrid. Take some real events in my life, spice it up a little bit, write them down, and post them here. I know it sounds awesome. But I'm wondering how successful it will be. I'm not good at these every day things... well, maybe only once a week. that's it! I'll carry a notebook around all the time, and in any spare moments, I'll jot down interesting tidbits of my life. when I have more leisure I shall sit down and arrange it into a nice little episode. The Only difficulties will be that my life is not very exciting, and that I keep convincing myself I can't write worth anything. This is rather difficult to get around... Well. My only solution is to think positive, and stick to it. I hope it works.

Writer's Note: This has been a Free Write. Everything written in it was composed in under ten minutes. Please do not be too harsh on me. I know I won't be. Thanks you, and Farewell.

-- The Honourable Comtess Rosie "Thal" K-Smith

I was having deep thoughts the other day, but I can't remember what they were... >:(

Well, I survived the AMC10. We're in one, or course; but I mean: put into words, you know, told by the fireside, or read out of a great big book with red and black letters, years and years afterwards. And people will say: "Let's hear about Frodo and the Ring! " And they'll say: "Yes, that's one of my favourite stories. Frodo was very brave. wasn't he, dad?" "Yes, my boy, the famousest of the hobbits, and that's saying a lot."'"--Sam

Another good quote:

"Don't leave me here alone! It's your Sam calling. I managed to control myself, and not write at all this morning, and I actually got stuff done! I read quite a lot of history, and did Chemistry. We all walked down to K-mart and got some candy, to store up for the tough times ahead. When we got home, I tried to practice my Flute, but was unsuccessful, because I couldn't look down to read the music, and manage to play the flute. We really need to get a music stand. So I gave up on practicing my flute, and went upstairs to start my novel. After much thinking, I set off. To my delight, I easily got 645 words, in one sitting, about the first Main Character. I have three main characters, and I'm writing it all in "I". So far, I've only gotten to the first two Main Characters, but the third one will probably be put in before bed time. I think I'm doing pretty good, with an average of 258 words per page (College Ruled) and more than nine pages done. That means that (by my official count) I have 2322 words so far. *is very happy*

as of five o'clock last night I had no idea who my third main character (the girl) was going to be. I knew absolutely nothing about her, except that she lives in Cha'are. So, last night, I hastily decided to stick one of my oldest characters into this year's NaNo. She's a girl named Ileon, and she appeared in quite a few of my earlier stories (none of which I completed). She's a Sylphian (don't ask. it's my secret.) and her age varies, but her character always stay the same, so she's easy to stick in it.

One last note. Our computers have been upgraded to Firefox 2.0 (I believe...) and I have found out that when you hit the backspace button, it takes a little while to "get up to speed". what i mean by this, is that, if you hold it down, and then lift it up, the computer will continue to erase what you have written for a small time. it's kind of annoying. *grin*

Random Rainy Day Ramblings.

Not that it is a rainy day, or anything (it is actually quite nice out) but I figured it would be even more random if I rambled about something that wasn't. savvy?

Okay! Well, it's been such a slow, drizzly day (it hasn't, keep that it mind-- THIS IS FICTION! thank you), that I decided to have a nice cup of Earl Grey Tea. Hot, of course. unfortunately, I spilled it all over myself. when it was still Hot. ow. SO I had to get a change of clothes, at which point I realized that I had to do Laundry. Yay. But, when I got downstairs, the laundry machine hadn't drained all the way, because the sink it drains into had gotten clogged, which meant that I had to stick my arm up to the elbow in cold, filthy water. Yay. Once I got that done, I drained the laundry again. I forgot to mention that I did change my clothes. yes, I'm not doing this in my soaking hot watery ones. yuck. well, I'm not doing this at all, now am I? Next thing on the agenda was to DO something. So I read To Kill a Mockingbird (I did actually do this.) which was a good idea, as it is a very good book. you ought to read it (or reread it. whichever the case may be).

enough of this silliness. Posties (singular, Posty [poast-ee]) are, in appearance, merely purple monkeys. But, as everyone knows, Appearances are not everything. Posties do not have strange and silly tendencies to scratch their armpits, as some monkeys do. Posties would never use a keyboard, preffering to dictate to their best friends, the Molks. Posties are always polite, and congenial.

2. Posties are native to the land of Cha'are (the only land in the world to have a hot pink flag!). Posties, in coordination with their appearance, generally live in trees, but it is not unusual to find some in other places. Posties quite often have loud and noisy parties that wake people up. because of this, many people have prejudices against Posties, but the Posties really don't mean anything by it! they were just having fun!

Die, Evil Poisoned Gorgonzola!!!

*recovers self*

There is your canoe. I try to tell myself that I really shouldn't mind, and that, in most cases I would prefer it this way, but it still manages to depress me. Dustfinger wouldn't care. Athos would detest me. Marius wouldn't even see me. Levin... who knows what Levin would do. Sam and Sydney are just about the only ones who I could really talk with, and that makes me sad, because Sydney is dead. Sam is just about the only one I can think of and be happy, but even then, it is but a passing whim, and in the end, I just roll over, and think of something else. Oh, I am too sentimental. what does it really matter, I tell myself in the morning. they are fictional characters! nothing more! but there's the hitch. they aren't just fictional characters. they are real, and I love them all. I can't remember his name, but he's the doctor guy from Master and Commander. I think he could portray Dustfinger at least adaquetly. I mean, they'll have to change his hair color, and give him scars, but setting his appearance aside, I think his acting skills are good enough. My only real concern is that he might possibly be too old. Now, I do not know too much about htis actor... let's see... he was born in 1971, that makes him 25, oh that's not too bad! oh, I really hope they don't ruin this movie! the book is SO good!

Yes!! I have not mentioned it before on here!! If you have not read Cornelia Funke's Inkheart, you absolutely have to! it is a very good book, it is well written, and it has a wonderful plot. You will also have to read Inkspell, the second book in the trilogy, but I would suggest waiting at least until the third one has come out, because Inkspell suffers from second-book-in-a-trilogy syndrome. Even with a big cliff-hanger and (at least) a year wait, Inkspell is worth it. So, now you all know to run off to your libraries to find these books, and if your libraries don't have them, well, my suggestion is to throw a fit and buy them, and then donate them to your library, cause they are really missing out on something!

My Reading list

I headed an expedition to the Library earlier today, an I now have the last two books in the Bartimaeus Trilogy, The Ear, The Eye, and the Arm, by Nancy Farmer, and Wolf Tower, by Tanith Lee.

I am also currently reading The Shunning, by that lady writer who likes Amish people... I just sat down and started writing, and stopped when our supper arrived, and I have not edited it at all, so don't get to mad at me. here it is!

I set off down the with much vigor, considering that I had just sprinted all the way up only to find thata m professor had already left the building. As I hit the fifth stair, I collided with an invisible object. startle, I drew back; my nose bleeding. I glanced around--good! no one had seen me. That would have been humiliating. My next action was to determine exactly what had impeded my descent. As I groped around, I noticed a shadow on the floor. Looking up, I didn't see anybody, and by the time I looked back down the shadow was gone. Being unable to find anything, I started down the stairs again. Again, as I hit the fifth step, I collided with some unseen object. this time, I heard a person snickering at me quietly.
"Where are you?" I cried desperately. there was silence. "Come on out, you coward!!" I shouted. "I just insulted your honor!!!"
No response. I wasn't about to try and smash my nose in again, so I sat down on the steps and said, "I'm just gonna sit here and wait till you come out." and I waited. and waited. and waited. It was probably a good thing that I didn't have anywhere to go. after maybe half an hour, a person come own the stairs towards me.
