I am alive!

Yes, I am. and, to prove it, I shall post one of the best quotes of all time, as it was posted on Wikipedia. No, this is not as much of it as I should have liked, but I don't want to type it all up.

"'I wonder if we shall ever be put into songs or tales. We're in one, or course; but I mean: put into words, you know, told by the fireside, or read out of a great big book with red and black letters, years and years afterwards. And people will say: "Let's hear about Frodo and the Ring! " And they'll say: "Yes, that's one of my favourite stories. Frodo was very brave. wasn't he, dad?" "Yes, my boy, the famousest of the hobbits, and that's saying a lot."'"--Sam

Another good quote:

"Don't leave me here alone! It's your Sam calling. Don't go where I can't follow! Wake up, Mr. Frodo!"

and finally:

"Frodo was alive but taken by the enemy."

*cries* I miss my brothers...

Okay, I have 10,577 words (I think... somewhere around there). I am hopelessly behind, and do not see myself catching up anytime soon... I stay up too late, and don't write when I'm awake... right now, I just want to read Lord of the Rings again...but I have to go to bed...

NaNoWriMo

well, it has begun. I managed to control myself, and not write at all this morning, and I actually got stuff done! I read quite a lot of history, and did Chemistry. We all walked down to K-mart and got some candy, to store up for the tough times ahead. When we got home, I tried to practice my Flute, but was unsuccessful, because I couldn't look down to read the music, and manage to play the flute. We really need to get a music stand. So I gave up on practicing my flute, and went upstairs to start my novel. After much thinking, I set off. To my delight, I easily got 645 words, in one sitting, about the first Main Character. I have three main characters, and I'm writing it all in "I". So far, I've only gotten to the first two Main Characters, but the third one will probably be put in before bed time. I think I'm doing pretty good, with an average of 258 words per page (College Ruled) and more than nine pages done. That means that (by my official count) I have 2322 words so far. *is very happy*

as of five o'clock last night I had no idea who my third main character (the girl) was going to be. I knew absolutely nothing about her, except that she lives in Cha'are. So, last night, I hastily decided to stick one of my oldest characters into this year's NaNo. She's a girl named Ileon, and she appeared in quite a few of my earlier stories (none of which I completed). She's a Sylphian (don't ask. it's my secret.) and her age varies, but her character always stay the same, so she's easy to stick in it.

One last note. Our computers have been upgraded to Firefox 2.0 (I believe...) and I have found out that when you hit the backspace button, it takes a little while to "get up to speed". what i mean by this, is that, if you hold it down, and then lift it up, the computer will continue to erase what you have written for a small time. it's kind of annoying. *grin*

Random Rainy Day Ramblings.

Not that it is a rainy day, or anything (it is actually quite nice out) but I figured it would be even more random if I rambled about something that wasn't. savvy?

Okay! Well, it's been such a slow, drizzly day (it hasn't, keep that it mind-- THIS IS FICTION! thank you), that I decided to have a nice cup of Earl Grey Tea. Hot, of course. unfortunately, I spilled it all over myself. when it was still Hot. ow. SO I had to get a change of clothes, at which point I realized that I had to do Laundry. Yay. But, when I got downstairs, the laundry machine hadn't drained all the way, because the sink it drains into had gotten clogged, which meant that I had to stick my arm up to the elbow in cold, filthy water. Yay. Once I got that done, I drained the laundry again. I forgot to mention that I did change my clothes. yes, I'm not doing this in my soaking hot watery ones. yuck. well, I'm not doing this at all, now am I? Next thing on the agenda was to DO something. So I read To Kill a Mockingbird (I did actually do this.) which was a good idea, as it is a very good book. you ought to read it (or reread it. whichever the case may be).

enough of this silliness. Leave me! Many Happy Returns.

Favorite Things!

I realize that the title to this post makes you think of Sound of Music. that is exactly what I intended to make you think of. not that this post has anything to do with Sound of Music. I just wanted to manipulate your brain, for it is quite fun. One more thing, before we get to the actual post. it might be about Sound of Music. you never know with me. what I said earlier was true, for I do not know if this post will have much to do with sound of music or not. So! sit back, enjoy, and don't get Mountain Dew up your nose. thank you.

okay, not that we've got that over with, I can tell you what I had intended to tell you-if I can remember it, that is...

Oh yes! I just wanted to find out two things.
1. if people visit this blog anymore, and
2. what you prefer from a given list.

Posties [poast-eez]

I will now educate all of you, my adoring public, on the subject of Posties.

1. Posties (singular, Posty [poast-ee]) are, in appearance, merely purple monkeys. But, as everyone knows, Appearances are not everything. Posties do not have strange and silly tendencies to scratch their armpits, as some monkeys do. Posties would never use a keyboard, preffering to dictate to their best friends, the Molks. Posties are always polite, and congenial.

2. Posties are native to the land of Cha'are (the only land in the world to have a hot pink flag!). Posties, in coordination with their appearance, generally live in trees, but it is not unusual to find some in other places. Posties quite often have loud and noisy parties that wake people up. because of this, many people have prejudices against Posties, but the Posties really don't mean anything by it! they were just having fun!

Die, Evil Poisoned Gorgonzola!!!

*recovers self*

There is your canoe. Go and fetch me some Fried Chicken.

Hello, all. I'm here to give you a dose of randomness. So go boil an egg, for you may want it soon!

Or maybe you ought to make a pie?

Whatever you do, stay away from Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness. it might eat your foot.

Now, if you want to have a long and happy laundry cycle, you really ought to not drink all the apple cider.

Oh, My program's on! Kisses!

A Conversation Aboard the High Kicking Sea Otter

*High Pitched Whistle*
Me
- Bridge to Engineering. Come in engineering.
Person yet to be Named - Engineering here.
Me - Why, hello! Who is this?
Person yet to be Named - This is Monty.
Me - Oh, Hi, Monty! I'm not sure we've met! Are you new to The High Kicking Sea Otter?
Monty a little impatiently - Yes, I just came aboard at the last starbase.
Me - Oh! Had you ever been on a galaxy-class starship before?
Monty - Yes, I served aboard The Noon Sun, but I requested a transfer.
Me - Why?
Monty warming up to me a bit - well, the captain was always breathing down my back, never gave me any room, and because of this, the crew was getting really rude to me, so I requested a transfer, and got put here.
Me - Oh dear! That would have been awful!! How does our captain measure up to this? -a pause- Oh, he's not here. he's in his ready room. Besides, it isn't anything bad, is it?
Monty - oh, no! he's quite a wonderful Captain! I was just trying to find the words. He treats me much better than Captian Barbossa ever did. I really like it here.
Me - me too. I find everything about this ship to be very weloming. But then, I've been here for ten months, so I'm used to it by now.
Monty really seeming to enjoy our talk- oh, it's the same for me, too. I don't know how they did it!
Me - Me neither!
A voice from the ready room - THAL!!! GET OFF THE COMM SYSTEM!!!!
Me - Sorry, Captain. Monty, I have to go. Talk to you later, though!
Monty - All right.
Me - maybe we could have supper together tonight, I'd like to hear more about Captain Barbossa and The Noon Sun.
the Captain - THAL!!!!
Me - Sorry, sir. Bye, Monty

Comtess' Log

Stardate 91006.15

Yesterday I embarked on a dangerous journey, the details of which are too mundane to note here; the only important thing was that I returned victorious. Commendations go to Fin, for perservering in the face of great difficulty.

That's about all. This has been an extremely boring exciting couple of days.

Ein Feste Burg, 88.88.66.668. [high C]

1 God is our refuge and our strength,
A present help in our distress.
2We will not therefore be afraid
Tho' all the earth should be removed,
Tho' mountains great be hurled
Into the ocean's depths,
3 Tho' seas may roar and foam
And billows shake the shore,
Tho' mountains tremble at their power.

4 A river brings refreshing streams
To cheer the city of our God,
The Most High's holy dwelling place.
5 God is in her; she won't be moved;
At dawn will God help her.
6 The heathen rage; realms quake;
He lifts His voice; earth melts.
7 The LORD of hosts with us!
Our fortress strong is Jacob's God.

8 O come, see what the LORD has done;
He desolations brought on earth;
9On earth He puts an end to wars,
Breaks bow and spear, and chariots burns.
10 Be still! Know I am God.
Exalted o'er all men,
Exalted o'er all earth.
11 The LORD of host with us!
Our fortress strong is Jacob's God.

Reading

okay, so yesterday I finished the third Bartimaeus book (Ptelomy's Gate) and it was wonderful!! it did leave me feeling kind of empty, though. which leads me to a sad thought that I have had.

All of the people I love from fiction, wouldn't have given me a second glance. I try to tell myself that I really shouldn't mind, and that, in most cases I would prefer it this way, but it still manages to depress me. Dustfinger wouldn't care. Athos would detest me. Marius wouldn't even see me. Levin... who knows what Levin would do. Sam and Sydney are just about the only ones who I could really talk with, and that makes me sad, because Sydney is dead. Sam is just about the only one I can think of and be happy, but even then, it is but a passing whim, and in the end, I just roll over, and think of something else. Oh, I am too sentimental. what does it really matter, I tell myself in the morning. they are fictional characters! nothing more! but there's the hitch. they aren't just fictional characters. they are real, and I love them all. No wonder all those books are classics.

As I said, The Third book in the Bartimaeus Trilogy looked to be much better, but so far it isn't that great... true, it's better than the second, and it isn't boring, exactly, I just can't concentrate on it. oh well.

I am well started on Chemistry, now, having tackled converting measurements, taking measurements, and that whole presicion vs. accuracy thing... I know, it really hasn't been that much, but it is the basics for the rest of the book!

Tomorrow the Nano forums go down... RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!! bye!

Monday, August 28, 2006

well, I've been thinking about it, and although Dustfinger seems to be about 28 in Inkheart, you find out in Inkspell, that he has a grown daughter, so he really should be about 40... so I don't know what to think about this actor...

I am now almost done with The Golem's Eye, the second book in the Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud, and though it had a pretty boring middle, the end is really picking up speed. It really looks like the third is going to be even better, though!

Ho hum

I periodically cehck IMDB for updates on Inkheart, and I just looked, and they have someone cast for Dustfinger!! I can't remember his name, but he's the doctor guy from Master and Commander. I think he could portray Dustfinger at least adaquetly. I mean, they'll have to change his hair color, and give him scars, but setting his appearance aside, I think his acting skills are good enough. My only real concern is that he might possibly be too old. Now, I do not know too much about htis actor... let's see... he was born in 1971, that makes him 25, oh that's not too bad! oh, I really hope they don't ruin this movie! the book is SO good!

Yes!! I have not mentioned it before on here!! If you have not read Cornelia Funke's Inkheart, you absolutely have to! it is a very good book, it is well written, and it has a wonderful plot. You will also have to read Inkspell, the second book in the trilogy, but I would suggest waiting at least until the third one has come out, because Inkspell suffers from second-book-in-a-trilogy syndrome. Even with a big cliff-hanger and (at least) a year wait, Inkspell is worth it. So, now you all know to run off to your libraries to find these books, and if your libraries don't have them, well, my suggestion is to throw a fit and buy them, and then donate them to your library, cause they are really missing out on something!

My Reading list

I headed an expedition to the Library earlier today, an I now have the last two books in the Bartimaeus Trilogy, The Ear, The Eye, and the Arm, by Nancy Farmer, and Wolf Tower, by Tanith Lee.

I am also currently reading The Shunning, by that lady writer who likes Amish people... I can't remember her name. And I decided that I wasn't really all that interested in Gifts, by Ursula K LeGuin, so I returned it, along with A Great and Terrible Beauty, and Court Duel, neither of which were very good books...

A bit about me!

Okay, I have already told you that I do exist, and that I'm a frogenlander. If you were smart, you'd know that I am fourteen, and that I am a girl. If you knew me, you'd know that I own the cutest dog in the world, and that I read a lot. If you were observant, you'd know that I am random and crazy.

Very good! we have now covered everything you do know about me. now for what you don't know.

I Live in an Insane Asylum. Actually, I am the Head of the Insane Asylum! And it is generally called a mad house, at leat by the inhabitants.

I Sing voraciously. Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Psalms, and Anything that Pops into my head. I also sing very loudly.

I have a lot of fun. here in the Mad House we have quite a few in-jokes that are very hilarious.

Now, I have realized a couple more things that you might have already been able to tell. First, I have a couple sisters and a couple brothers. Second, I like Star Trek. Third, I do online things.

That's about all that I think you absolutely need to know about me, so, tally ho!!!

First of all, Yes, I really am a Frogenlander, and yes, I really am a real person. just to get this clear.

Second, we are currently NOT at war, but we may soon be having a Level 3 Border Dispute with the Chocolateers.

Third! I AM NOT going to desert, because I love being a Frogenlander, and because the Chocolateers don't seem to be a very loyal group...

Fourth! I have won every single Birthday cake Fight I have gotten into, so BEWARE!!!

Fifth, this isn't a very informative post, is it? Well, I'm sure that the Queen of Frogenland will be able to clear everything up very well, so just head on over to her blog, and have fun finding stuff out!

Comtess' Log, Stardate 17082006.83: this evening, my family was at Applebee's, and while we were waiting for our meals to arrive, I wrote part of a story. I just sat down and started writing, and stopped when our supper arrived, and I have not edited it at all, so don't get to mad at me. here it is!

I set off down the with much vigor, considering that I had just sprinted all the way up only to find thata m professor had already left the building. As I hit the fifth stair, I collided with an invisible object. startle, I drew back; my nose bleeding. I glanced around--good! no one had seen me. That would have been humiliating. My next action was to determine exactly what had impeded my descent. As I groped around, I noticed a shadow on the floor. Looking up, I didn't see anybody, and by the time I looked back down the shadow was gone. Being unable to find anything, I started down the stairs again. Again, as I hit the fifth step, I collided with some unseen object. this time, I heard a person snickering at me quietly.
"Where are you?" I cried desperately. there was silence. "Come on out, you coward!!" I shouted. "I just insulted your honor!!!"
No response. I wasn't about to try and smash my nose in again, so I sat down on the steps and said, "I'm just gonna sit here and wait till you come out." and I waited. and waited. and waited. It was probably a good thing that I didn't have anywhere to go. after maybe half an hour, a person come own the stairs towards me. As he got close, I jumped up and blocked his way.
"Don't go by!" I cried. "There's an invisible

and that's where I stopped. I think I'll continue it tomorrow sometime.

Space: The Final Frontier!

These are the postings of the Comtess Thal, as she goes about her day to day life, creating havoc and mayhem, happily singing at the top of her lungs.

Comtess' log, Stardate 8152006.5: I have succesfully found my way through the labyrinthine corridors of Cyberspace, and have found my way to a safe haven. I am not sure how long I will stay in this harbor of peaceful serenity, but I do feel sure that I will return from time to time. For now, I must make regenerate.
